Giving Back with Metropolitan Ministries

By November 4, 2020Community

It’s no secret that 2020 has been a tough year for everyone and nonprofits are no exception. This is why we have decided to partner with Metropolitan Ministries for a holiday toy drive.

If you’re unfamiliar with this organization, their services are designed to help homeless and at-risk children and families, no matter how serious their needs. Whether they need to get off the streets at night or they’re seeking education so they can get a job that will support their family.

These services are vital for the 32,000 homeless men, women and children in our communities. They’re also fueled by donors. Without this true community collaboration, so many would be left out in the cold with no hope for a future.

Together, we hope you can help us shine some light onto this holiday season.

From infants to teens, toys are an ongoing need and below are some donation ideas for both boys and girls. We kindly ask that toys be in new condition and unwrapped.

Gift Suggestions for infant to 2 years old:

  • Preschool play sets
  • Baby dolls
  • Learning toys
  • Puzzles
  • Building blocks

Gift Suggestions for 10 to 12 years old:

  • Bicycles
  • Scooters
  • Electronic games
  • Remote control cars
  • Play makeup

Gift Suggestions for 13 to 17 years old:

  • Jewelry
  • Cologne/perfume
  • Sports clothing
  • Gift cards
  • Prepaid cell phones

Donations will be collected from Thursday, November 19th through Tuesday, December 8th. Both Abby’s store and Abby’s farm will have donation boxes in which you can easily drop off your toy(s).

On behalf of Abby’s and Metropolitan Ministries, we thank you in advance for your kindness and generosity this holiday season.
